Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  When did you start blogging?

A:  I started blogging in August 2014.  I have always wanted a way to connect to other music teachers and share great ideas that I find!  I'm really hoping to get some great feedback from blog readers so I can learn too!

Q:  Who are some other great bloggers to follow for elementary music?

A:  I highly recommend Aileen Miracle, David Row, and The Yellow Brick Road.  There are a bazillion more out there--find who fits your style!

Q:  What advice do you have for a first-year music teacher?

A:  Get hooked-in to some sort of professional development organization!  It is so important to have other music teachers to borrow ideas from and to ask questions to.  AOSA, Kodaly, and Dalcroze are all options.  Some lesser-known options are ETM (Education Through Music) and Music Learning TheoryWhatever you choose will be better than doing it by yourself!  Also, there are great resources on Teachers Pay Teachers that will save you a lot of time (and preserve your sanity!).  In addition, you should check out a great group on Facebook if you look up "music teachers."  And don't forget that Pinterest is a great resource too!

Q:  What are some good music teaching stores on Teachers Pay Teachers?

A:  There are SO many great resources out there!  Check out The Music Crew to find some of the best of the best!  It all depends upon your teaching style.  Feel free to stop by my store as well!
